Vera Louise (Parkhurst)
Brewer
Vera Louise (Parkhurst) Brewer was
born January 21, 1913 in Eufaula to Roy E. and Lottie (Plotner)
Parkhurst.
She attended Eufaula schools and
graduated in 1936 from Oklahoma A&M College
in Stillwater.
She was a lifelong educator from 1937-1978 with
the exception of several years during World War II when
she was an inspector at Douglas Aircraft in
Tulsa.
She taught at Northeastern State
College in Tahlequah, Broken Arrow,
East Central and Catoosa High Schools.
She retired in 1978 after 36 years in the Union
School District.
She was a past Worthy Matron of the Order of the
Eastern Star in Catoosa.
She was preceded in death by her
husband, James Guy Brewer, Jr.; parents; sister Valera
L. Williams; brothers: Roy Carl and C. Bert Parkhurst;
and niece Terri Alicia Vinson.
She is survived by her nieces: Charlotte A. Poe
and her husband John, Patricia S. Berkey, Kaye E. Absher
and her husband Curtis, Carol K. Caviness; nephews:
Steven B. Parkhurst and his wife Linda, Timothy C.
Parkhurst and his wife Sarah, John L. and Thomas P.
Williams, Jeffrey R. Graddy and his wife Shelly; and
many other great and great-great-nieces and nephews.
“Auntie B” was always there for us and we all
adored her.
Service: 11 A.M. Tuesday, August 26
at the Chapel; interment: 3:30 P.M. Greenwood Cemetery in Eufaula.
